New dress code at home location

Our home location just started enforcing a new dress code. No jackets, not boots, no open toe flip flops, hat to be worn with brim facing the front, only 1 necklaces to be worn that is shown, no baggy clothing and a few other rules. When I shoot, I sweat. My feet get very hot so I wear flip flops. Now with this new dress code, I will be at a disadvanage. I will be more worried about my feet sweating through my socks and shoes than shooting. Our city ( Salisbury, MD)has high crime but still, we need to be comfy. Any other location have similar dress codes?

I was just trying to find the actual formula for evaluating skill level of players. I have been told several different formulas, none of which seem to be accurate! We always hear about innings and defensive shots scored accurately but that makes no sense after what I just saw! Four players from one team were raised one skill level each in just one week!!! I'd like to have the odds of that happening...P.S...they just played a team with two league reps on it last week...hhmmmmmmm

Is it me or are people taking this writing people up too far. Its like some people act like kids telling the teacher on a classmate. Some things should be written up for example a person shooting as a too low or high skill level and a few others but my problem is people who use it as a power to try and get someone in trouble. One week we played against a new team that had some people new to the division and some just new. To start out we flipped and they won he says he will put up first. Ok then after i fill out the numbers of what team is whatever line he comes back and says he changed his mind he wants me to put up first but me being a good sportsman said thats fine and scribbled my paper work up fixing who goes first, second ect. We play the first match and then i walk over and say im putting my 2 up and she gives me this funny look but dont say anything so we looking at the paper and its them who was supposed to put up because he changed it remember but the scribbled paper confused me so she says she had said she was playing a 4 but i didnt hear her so I was like ok im playing my 4 and she was like ok and wrote it down and all was fine. Another team mate heard we was changing our player and went off saying no they cant do that. You say something you cant go back and change it. She kept complaining but by this time the two 4's was flipping for the break. Everyone else on her team was ok with because for one we was supposed to put up last anyway it wasnt like we was supposed to put up first and two they just told us they would put up first then came back and changed it after we had it on paper already which she didnt know because her big mouth was talking so my female playing only said to her its over now why you still talking about it they already shooting youll could have said no and we would made our 2 play your 4 and that was it. Then a few seconds later she like I'm writting her up. Now I don't know what she told the APA but they sent my team mate a letter about the incident. The APA should not allow just anyone to just have a issue with someone and they accept what anyone is saying without speaking to the other person involved plus what was the reason for her to write my player up. My team has goodsportsmanship and we know most of the players in our area. The APA should tell these people if its not about pool dont come telling the APA about every little problem you have at pool especially if your the one causing the trouble. Some people just don't know how to act and I make sure people like that don't join my team. And one more thing don't write someone up because you lost. Sometimes people have a good game or you had a bad game know the person before you think they aint what they should be.

The 8 ball is in the center of the table by the head line. The cue ball is at the other end approx 12 inches from the rail.

The cue ball is 12 inches from the right rail. The 8 ball is center by the head line. The shooter is calling the 8 in the front right pocket. The shooter is worried about scratching in the left fron pocket. The shooter has no time outs left. The shooter says out loud, (talking to himself) "I think this is going to be a scratch shot." From behind, one of his team mates yealls out, "You aint going to scratch!" and then cups his mouth and turns away. The other team calls out foul. The both teams argue over the called shot from the team player. The team is now saying someone not on their team made the comment.
Introducing Avatars & Blog Enhancements!!

AVATARS!

Yes, we heard you!!! We've heard those calls to further personalize the forum and allow members to have an avatar appear when they post. Until recently we've resisted the idea for a number of reasons; the primary being members could not upload images and cross linking slows down page loading because the website has to go out and get the image.

Well now everyone has the ability to create their own personal gallery on the website and post their own member blogs. We thought "What better way to encourage the use of these features!!"

You'll notice both the forum and blog now show avatars for the poster and the those who reply. Clicking on the photo will bring up a full size version without taking you away from the page! The arrows below the picture will allow you to scroll through the Avatars of other members. Now you can get a visual of who is posting... put a face to a name... get a glimpse of who they are and maybe find out if it's someone you know or have seen... or someone you WILL know the next time you see them.

The avatar is actually your profile picture, and while you can still remotely link, we suggest you create your personal gallery and upload an image for your profile. Once uploaded you'll see an icon below the image to set it as your profile picture. You can also use the regular photo gallery the same way. Simply search for your member number and use the same icon.

BLOGS!

To further enhance the blog module we've given members the ability to control the blog a little more. The Author can now lock their blog, and not allow comments (they will have to unlock it to edit it too, but they can prevent members from posting to it!). Members can also delete posts from other members (not admins or moderators) if they don't like them. The blog is yours!!! You can also delete a blog once it's been replied to (the only caveat is you have to delete the replies first - if there are any). Yes, we know there are some limitations here, but they were necessary. We hope you understand.

You can also easily link images from your member gallery into you blog! In the post Format: Options look for the () Icon. You can also post YouTube Videos in your blog using the() icon.

When reading a blog, at the very top to the right you'll see a few more icons and a list of websites you can share the blog on. If you find a member's post interesting share it on your favorite website or email it to a friend. You can also search for blogs by specific players and get a list of blogs by date.

Comments, questions and bug reports are always welcome!

Enjoy everyone!

Bob Swauger
Maryland APA Web Admin

Pool Players, designing for Pool Players.
Search is still your friend!

Fran and I just launched our latest project. We've been working closely over the last several months with WPBA players Kelly Fisher and Val Finnie creating kwikfireinc.com! For those who have issues with sound on web pages please check your speakers before visiting! For those that don't I highly recommend you leave them on for the full effect.

The site is still under construction as we fill in content and process images, so bear in mind that some pages may not be available just yet. Kelly wanted to get the cues online so we made it a priority to create that page and set up everything for online processing of orders. The cues are quite nice. Fran and I took high resolution images of them all for use on the site and got to handle and check each one out. They are of very high quality.

The design is credited to Val and Kelly. They came to Baltimore and worked with Fran and I for the better part of a day laying out and refining their vision for colors and stlye. Fran and I took that concept, worked within i and refined it to what you see now. Val actually designed all the cues as well.

Fran gets all the credit for the video on the home page. He's got another one he's working on for them right now, so you'll need to check back to see that one when it's completed.

Bob Swauger
Maryland APA Web Admin

Pool Players, designing for Pool Players.
Search is your friend!
