I bought Tyler a new toy last night, his first electronic gizmo.

Canon HF200 High Definition Camcorder

Ok, it was really for daddy, but since Tyler will be the star of most of my movies I was able to get mommy to let me buy it for him, I mean me.

The camcorder got great reviews from Cnet and wasn't terribly expensive so I broke down and ordered one. I can't wait until it arrives and get to experiment with it.

Are there any other photo/video enthusiasts out there? If so what equipment do you own? How do you like it? What applications do you use to edit/post process your photos/videos?

I have a Nikon D80 Digital SLR that I love. I have several lens for it:
17-35mm kit zoom lens
70-300mm kit zoom lens
35-70mm F2.8 zoom lens
50mm F1.4 fix focal lens (great portrait/low light lens)
I invested in a SB600 flash as well.

When the camcorder arrives I will shoot some video and post some samples.

Fran Kuhn
Webmaster

We got the call yesterday morning. Tyler passed his carseat test and we could come pick him up. We spent a couple hours at the hospital getting last minute instructions and signing paperwork. He is on a heart monitor just as a precaution. We actually feel a little more secure with him on it. If there's a problem that thing is loud enough to wake the dead. Not that I slept much last night anyway.

Lots of last minute hugs and tears were shared with the doctors and nurses that we have spent so much time with over the last 2 months. We've cried with them, laughed with them, and consider each and everyone there our extended family.

The words "Thank You" seem inadequate for everything the doctors and nurses at St. Joes have done for us over the last three months. We cannot express how grateful we are for the gift they have given us.

Our Son. Happy and healthy. Home at last.

Fran Kuhn
Webmaster

What an eventful weekends it's been. Tyler was transferred yesterday to Siani where he was scheduled for surgery today, but due to a mix up, it's been delayed until tomorrow. He will undergo his operation to close his PDA at 7:30am.

He's doing really well so far, still eating like a champ and is up to 4 lbs. 13 ounces. By the time he goes back to St. Joes he'll probably be well over 5 pounds. The staff at Siani is also top notch. The nurses adore my little guy. He is so brave and patient.

I'll have the laptop charged up and post news as soon as it comes in.

Once again, thank you for your thoughts and prayers, we are going to need them tomorrow.

Hope your holiday weekend was great!

Fran Kuhn
Webmaster

Tyler turned 1 month old yesterday. He's up to nearly 4 lbs 2 ozs so far. He's eating 1 oz of mom's milk every 3 hours and although still fluid restricted, packs on about an average of an ounce per day. His last echo cardiogram showed his PDA is still open but so far is not causing him any problems so the doctors are holding off on surgery to see if it will close on it's own in the next couple of weeks. He still needs some oxygen to help keep his saturation up but only a small amount.

He's out of his incubator and finally in a bassinet since he's holding his temperature well. He enjoys wearing his clothes and hates to be naked when we change him.

We hope to try to start bottle feeding him within the next couple of weeks as that will be a large step in his journey home.

Here's a good photo I snapped of him yesterday.

Fran Kuhn
Webmaster
