In the way i look at the game the ratings aren't as fair as they could be, and should be looked at to make the game more fair and fun. In my view shooter's get raised to easily and take's a while to get lowered back down. If the league made it harder to get raised or didn't raise you because you win a couple time's in a row and when you do get raised you don't get lowered back down it would take some of the sandbagging out of the game because now when someone get's raised they just start losing till they go back down. So if after you get 20 to 30 matches in your rating is set and you go from there, so when you get raised it doesn't pay to lose because your not going to get lowered which would make for a more equal playing ground. So if you was to do something like that you raise the 23 rule to 24 which gives all the team the same playing ground it just wouldn't tie you down as bad when player's are raised. It then would make the game more fair, less sandbagging and more fun. So when you are shooting a team you know that there 3's are just that 3's not 4's and 5's losing to hold there rating, which you will still have player's that lose on purpose but there will be less of it.So that's my gripe and something i think that could help to make the league a more fun and enjoyable place to play, thank's for reading.
Shawn Gillilan

WHAT IS THE ADVANTAGE HERE? Then there were people who lost there sencond match and were still sent to the losers bracket. There was no advantage at all to win your first 2 games. You ended up at the same place as someone who lost one of there 2, not to mention you had to do it against stronger competion. The format really needs to be looked at. Either make i a true double elimination or a true single. At the very least the loser side should have to win more games!

Mike Sigel to conduct 9-ball Clinic at Champion Billiards in Frederick

Five-time World Pocket Billiards Champion, Mike Sigel, will be conducting a 9-ball clinic at Champion Billiards and Sports Café in Frederick, Maryland on Sunday, March 14th.

This seminar is intended as a workshop for intermediate to advanced pool players. The seminar will cover all of the major aspects of 9-ball such as breaking, position play, ball speed, defensive shots and strategy. In addition, Mike is available to answer questions on 8-ball or evaluate a player’s form and stroke. The cost for this seminar is $70 per person and is limited to the first 10 people who register.

Mike Sigel 9-Ball Clinic
Sunday, March 14th
12:00 noon to 4:00 PM

Champion Billiards & Sports Cafe
5205 Buckeystown Pike
Frederick, Md.
Phone: 301-846-0089

Dan Demaree said, “We had a great turnout for the straight pool clinics and the 9-ball clinics that Mike Sigel did in our area in January. Mike will actually be staying in Maryland March 12th – 19th working on a series of video interviews, so he has graciously agreed to be available for exhibitions or clinics during that time.”

One student from the previous clinic in January said, “Mike helped me make some modifications to my stroke and I am now pocketing a higher percentage of balls than ever before. I have had a lot of comments from people on league night who have asked me how my game improved in such a short time. The one tip he gave me was worth the total cost of the seminar. It was great to be able to work one-on-one with a multi-time world champion like that.”

To register for the Clinic, please contact Dan Demaree at the following email or phone to reserve your spot.

Dan Demaree
ddemaree@dprgroup.com
Cell: 301-514-0872

In addition, Mike is also available for exhibitions or group or private lessons from March 12 - 19th.

Mike Sigel has won more than 106 major pool tournaments including three U.S. Open 9-ball Championships, three U.S. Open Straight Pool Championships and five World Pocket Billiards Championship titles. Sigel played himself in the movie, “The Baltimore Bullet,” and was technical advisor to Paul Newman and Tom Cruise in the Academy Award-winning movie “The Color of Money.” In 1989, at age 35, Sigel became the youngest person inducted into the Billiard Congress of America’s Hall of Fame.

#	#	#
